OTTAWA – This weekend, Thomas Mulcair was elected new leader of the Official Opposition by thousands of New Democrats. Local MP Fin Donnelly (New Westminster-Coquitlam & Port Moody) was one of the first to congratulate Mulcair on his victory.

“I am happy to see Tom as our new leader,” said Donnelly. “New Democrats are united behind Tom and excited about his leadership which marks a new chapter in our party’s history”.

Mulcair’s election comes just days before the federal budget will be introduced on Thursday.

“Tom is ready to take on the issues in the upcoming budget,” said Donnelly. “New Democrats have elected a fighter who will stand up for Canadian families”.
