Did you know that on average, a school-aged child using a disposable lunch generates approximately 67 pounds of waste every school year? That’s almost 20,000 pounds of lunch waste for just one average-size elementary school.

Every year, I challenge students in my riding to go litter-free during Waste Reduction Week in October. Students participate as a class, and the class with the highest percentage of litterless lunches will be announced in the House of Commons and will receive a free litterless lunch.
