The three 'R's and one 'C'

1. Reduce

 AVOID OVER-PACKAGED FOOD

Single use cartons and food packaging leave behind excess plastic and paper products that often end up in the landfill. 

BULK UP!

Buy larger quantities of dried fruit, trail mix, yogurt, and apple sauce.

LET NATURE WRAP YOUR FOOD!

Choose fruits and veggies that come with their own packaging, such as apples, bananas, oranges, hard-boiled eggs, and carrots.

 

2. Reuse

CHOOSE REUSABLE PACKAGING

- Stainless steel water bottle

- Reusable plastic containers

- Reusable lunch bag or box

-Cloth napkins

- Metal utensils

AVOID COMMON LUNCH WASTE

- Throw away paper bags and napkins

-Plastic sandwich bags and wrap

-Aluminum foil

 

3. Recycle 

Recycling is a great way to reduce the amount of packaging that ends up in the landfill.

FREQUENT LUNCH BAG RECYCLEABLES

-Pop Cans

-Cardboard Containers

-Juice Boxes

4. Compost

PACK WHAT YOU CAN EAT

Only bring as much food as you can finish, and put all leftovers in a backyard or school compost bin or a municipal organics bin.
